Welcome.doc

Hi, I'm Harry Chapman

Welcome to my personal site, built as a small creative project inspired by the desktop operating systems of the mid-2000s. It is meant to be a slightly simpler, more playful way to share what I work on, what I build, and what I get up to when I am not at a screen.

By day, I focus on healthcare operations and service delivery. I joined CareLoop Health early on, helping take our Class 1 medical device from its NICE Early Value Assessment recommendation into everyday clinical use. Joining that early meant turning my hand to product, QA, implementation and even marketing. We are currently live in five NHS trusts and expanding into the US.

Before that, I completed two degrees in Medical and Biomedical Sciences, worked as a healthcare assistant on an acute stroke unit for four years, and helped set up a self-referral mood disorder service under the NHS Mental Health Mission. Having worked both on the ward and behind the scenes, I am just as comfortable helping build something new from scratch as I am turning an established project into a smooth operation.

The rest of this site is everything else, and a creative outlet. I build small side projects for problems I run into myself: a bill splitter because working out who owed what was taking longer than dinner, a read-only Dark Souls map for my sister, and a therapeutic writing app that sets fire to the page when you are done. I take my camera places, and I also own a 1990s Suzuki Cappuccino, a Japanese sports car roughly the size of a chest freezer, which is usually in bits.

Have a look around, take a look at the projects, or head straight to my CV if you'd like some more information about my day to day.

About this interface

The site is laid out as a desktop from around 2004. Double-click an icon to open it, or tap once on a phone or tablet. Windows drag by their title bar and resize from their edges, and the Start menu holds everything the desktop does. Right-click the background to change the colours.

None of it is required. The notification area at the bottom right has a switch for plain document pages, and that choice is remembered. Everything here also works with JavaScript disabled.

The wallpaper, the icons and the window furniture are drawn in CSS and SVG rather than taken from Microsoft, and the sounds are generated in the browser rather than played from files.
